IPL 2022: There is news of relief for the Indian cricket lovers who have been yearning to see the IPL match for the last two seasons. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has said that all the matches of the next IPL will be played in India. Shah said this at the event ‘The Champions Call’ organized to celebrate the victory of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2021.
Jay Shah said, ‘I know you all are waiting to see Chennai play at the Chepauk Stadium. This time is not far away now. The entire 15th season of IPL will be held in India and with the addition of two new teams, it will be more interesting than ever. He credited CSK’s success in IPL to team owner Srinivasan and team captain Dhoni. He said, ‘Srinivasan stood by the team in bad times and how can anyone take CSK lightly while being the captain of MS Dhoni. Dhoni is the heartbeat and backbone of this team.
Due to Corona, sometimes the whole or half the season had to be done in UAE.
Due to Corona, the entire IPL season of 2020 was played in UAE instead of India. After this, the 2021 season started in India, but due to the players and support staff being found corona infected, the tournament had to be canceled midway. The remainder of its season was again played in the UAE, where CSK once again became the champion.
